1A Winterfell

This is a big draft-cross mare- she is Friesian/Quarter horse. Just shy of 15.2H but wears a size 80 blanket and weighs 1300 lbs. Small enough to get on and not knock your head on trees… but large enough to make your butt look small! 😉

Not mare-ish, not generally spooky, solid on trails, seasoned, safe, gentle and fun. Quiet but not lazy, leads or follows, experienced ‘husband-safe’ trail horse. Nice to ride in the arena and ready to show in lower levels of Western Dressage.

Winter is a gentle and fun riding horse that’s easy to live with, has good manners, sound and tuned up, and is already in good shape to hit the trails!

No vices, no bad habits, easy to catch, good in a stall or pasture. She’s a very loving and sweet mare. Hotwire trained. Ties and stands patiently. Loads and hauls well. Stands patiently to mount for the most awkward rider.

She is easy to tack up and bridle; nothing really to say that’s negative except she is a little bouncy if you don’t know how to post her faster trot, her slow jog is pretty comfy! Her canter is rocking chair fun but big (not fast)— takes a little getting used to! She also has all the buttons and is learning very quickly to neckrein.

This is a really good horse to have around for those times when you just don’t want to have to worry what sort of mood your horse will be in today… ride in high winds, with or without buddies. You can even put your friends on and know they’ll have fun, … or let her sit a couple weeks and jump on and go (or ride every day).

She is sound but can be tender on rocks or really hard ground so she does best in front shoes (or boots) for trail riding. She comes with her Easyboots if desired!

Note: Winter’s preference is to be ridden in a mild curb bit with light or loose contact- it’s fine take hold whenever you need to (see videos) to collect or cue her, but don’t stay in her face. If you prefer to ride with a strong contact, neither of you will be very happy. That’s about the only (sort of) negative thing that I can really say about her personality!
